Things To Do in the Ozarks
Around Lizard Springs

The cabin at Lizard Springs is located on the Mulberry River and is surrounded by the Ozark National Forest. We are in the center of an outdoor adventure paradise.

The wild and scenic Mulberry River offers top notch white water excitement for canoeing and kayaking. At high levels the Mulberry can challenge the most experienced expert but lower levels can be enjoyed by families and less experienced floaters. If you don't have your own equipment we can help you arrange canoe rentals, transportation, vehicle shuttles and even a sack lunch!

The fishing is great on the Mulberry river too since it is well stocked with small and large mouth bass.

Ozark National Forest
Besides floating, fishing and swimming in the Mulberry River you can enjoy the Ozark National Forest that surrounds our cabin and features oak pine woodlands, glades, bluffs, and waterfalls. The Ozarks are famous for their scenic beauty and their rugged mountain splendor. Our forest offers lofty peaks and deep hidden valleys ("hollows") with clear running streams and majestic waterfalls.

An easy drive let's you take in the incredible view from the top of magnificent White Rock Mountain. You'll be able to see all across the foothills of the Ozarks into the Arkansas River valley and across into Arkansas' wine country and Mount Magazine, Arkansas's highest peak. Nestled below White Rock mountain is Shores Lake where you can fish, picnic and in the winter months watch for eagles!

Road Trips
Lizard Springs makes a great base for scenic tours of the Ozarks. We are just a few miles from the highly regarded "Pig Trail" (Scenic Highway 23). A little further west is the Scenic Loop of Highway 71 North and I-540 and to the east is Arkansas' original Scenic Highway, Arkansas Seven. Whether you travel by car or touring motorcycles you can criss cross the Ozarks and still return to Lizard Springs for a relaxing evening.

All weather U.S. Forest service roads can lead you on day trips throughout the area which is criss-crossed with more roads and trails that are perfect for 4WD off-roading or all terrain vehicles.

Mountain biking opportunities are absolutely limitless around Lizard Springs. Bring your bike and explore the many trails, old logging roads and Forest Service roads.

For the more adventurous the Ozark Highlands Trail crosses the area. This well marked and maintained trail is used by day hikers and overnight backpackers and stretches over 180 miles across the Ozarks. The trail can be accessed from several different trailheads on Forest Service roads giving you a great choice of enjoyable day hikes ranging from easy to challenging. There is a trail that will lead you from the cabin at Lizard Springs directly on to the Ozark Highlands Trail.

Hunters will enjoy the National Forest and other public lands surrounding Lizard Springs during any of the Arkansas hunting seasons.
